On January 30, 2024, Jewish BC NDP Minister Selina Robinson made a comment about the poor quality of land that Israel inherited in 1948, and was summarily pilloried for it before issuing an apology, which did not save her from losing her cabinet post.
Among those expressing their discontent was federal NDP leader, Jagmeet Singh.
As Singh and the NDP like to say, "hate has no place here." Well, here are some things that NDP MPs in Singh's own caucus have posted or done since Oct 7 that did not attract any public comments from Singh or anyone else in the Party. Recall that the Liberals were in what was effectively a coalition government with the NDP throughout this all.
Here's Niki Ashton, tweeting her solidarity with CUPE leader Fred Hahn after some CUPE union chapters grew fed up with Hahn after yet another "allegedly" antisemitic post, and below that is Fred Hahn tweeting his excitement the day after the biggest massacre of Jews since the Holocaust.
Now, now. Niki is a friend of the Jewish people. Here she was in June with the righteous anti-Zionist Jews of Independent Jewish Voices, calling for a crackdown on certain Jewish charities.
Is tokenism racism? Well, definitely not when it comes to the Jews. Here's IJV's chief Rabbi, talking about Zionists in a way that might even get an NDP MP fired if they tried it:
One of the docs who was supposed to speak and got cancelled was this hero, Dr. Ge. You can see why the good Rabbi was so upset.
We'll come back to Zionist control over institutions in a moment. Here's another gem from the Rabbi, shortly before the Nazi saluting lady from Second Cup coffee in Montreal Jewish General Hospital was identified (spoiler, it was not a plant, and no apology or correction was issued):
It's not just Niki who loves the IJV. When the NDP released a
statement last November on the release of the IHRA Handbook to combat antisemitism, Blake Desjarlais, naturally critic for Diversity and Inclusion, cited IJV in explaining the Party's opposition to the IHRA definition. Never mind implicit lies about the IHRA definition barring criticism of Israel, it was odd because the NDP said nothing when Canada adopted the IHRA definition in 2019. Also odd, because Desjarlais has
no problem engaging with or following a supporter of designated terrorist groups who are very openly antisemitic. Anyway, see if you can find any posts from anyone in IJV condemning any instance of antisemitism in Canada since Oct 7. What a coincidence that the NDP loves them as progressive Jews.
Let's turn to Charlie Angus. On the heels of the RCMP press conference on India and foreign interference, when the Indian government was accused of supporting violence against Canadian citizens, Charlie tweeted this before deleting it and offering a "sorry if I offended anyone" non apology.
By the Israel lobby, Charlie is referring at least partly to Canadian Jews in the Centre for Israel and Jewish Affairs (CIJA). I wonder if the
IRGC's alleged assassination plot of Irwin Cotler riled him up so much on the foreign interference front. Has he ever tweeted about Iran or the IRGC? Just check his X account. Nothing critical that I could find since 2022 (on women's rights). Guess they haven't done anything worth condemning since then. What's a little funding and arming of multiple Islamist terrorist groups and destabilization in the region? I guess the NDP
wanted to open up diplomatic ties with the Iranian regime back in 2020. What could have inspired them?
What a surprise that Charlie (and fellow NDP MP Alexandre Boulerice) took time to meet with UN Special Rapporteur
Francesca Albanese when she visited Canada, who infamously posted about the Jewish lobby subjugating America in 2014 before switching to the correct DEI terms, "Zionist" or "Israel" lobby.
Albanese had to delete this post about her solidarity with now disgraced (in some circles) UK academic David Miller:
Here's a more recent David Miller post about eradicating Zionism and making Zionists live in fear:
Here's Charlie Angus putting a bullseye on Canadians who served in the IDF:
Strange that he and the NDP didn't have anything to say when Davide Mastracci, who writes for the Maple, which has been boosted by NDP MPs (at least Heather McPherson), doxxed 85 Canadian Jews who served in the IDF. Keep egging it all on and then claim innocence if and when violence comes. It's not like there haven't been any
terrorism plots directed at Canadian Jews since Oct 7.
Here's NDP MP Leah Gazan tweeting her solidarity with Sarah Jama, who was kicked out of the Ontario NDP for antisemitism:
Here's Sarah Jama, like Niki Ashton, tweeting her solidarity with Fred Hahn and complaining about the Zionist lobby:
It's ok. Leah is also a good friend of the (good) Jews. Here she is reposting IJV on International Holocaust Remembrance Day in a beautiful all lives matter tribute that indirectly reminds everyone of IJV and many NDP members' allegation that Israel is committing a genocide:
Hey, MP Matthew Green
went to bat for Sarah Jama too. Heartwarming. Who's that guy standing in the back in the picture in Matthew's article?
Joel Harden! The Ontario NDP MPP now running for MP in my riding. He was
forced to apologize for saying that he's asked many questions of his Jewish neighbours about how much longer we should put up with Israel's various crimes. He was also following Samidoun on X until at least they were designated as a terrorist entity. I'm sure it was just out of interest and not support.
One more...I'm getting tired. Heather McPherson complaining about "Israel apologists." Usually they're more careful in saying Netanyahu or the Israeli government, but hard to keep the mask on 24/7:
Did Singh call out any of the above? Nah. But Selina Robinson, the Jew...she had it coming.
Go to some of your favourite NDP MP X or Bluesky pages and see if you can find any posts about Iran, the Houthis (Death to Israel, A Curse Upon the Jews!), or Hezbollah. The NDP's official platform still calls for a two state solution, which as Students for Justice in Palestine and Within our Lifetime and most Jews will tell you, is a Zionist position because it means Israel gets to exist. Has any NDP MP or MPP uttered a word about "Zionists off campus," "All Zionists are racists," or "Zionists are Nazis" while hate crimes and terror plots against Canadian Jews have spiraled out of control?
Have you seen anyone in the NDP criticize any blatant acts of antisemitism in the "Pro-Palestine" rallies? Go back to Europe chants? Praising of Hitler or Nazi salutes? Is the NDP good with swastikas on the Israeli flag, or burning the Israeli flag? How about just open praise of terrorists and speeches alleging that Zionists control our government, like what happened at Al-Quds Day in Toronto? Ask the same questions about your favourite progressive pundits. Does the fish rot from the head or is Singh just channeling the "Right Side of History" energy of the grassroots? How long has it all been there for? How didn't I see it before? It's a question I've been asking myself for many months. I used to vote for the NDP on occasion. The dirt is not washing away.
Look, it's fun to pile on the NDP. They're polling as low as 6-7%. Young people and major unions are flocking to the Conservatives. Between 10-15% of their typical voters have gone over to support the former Goldman Sachs banker who is talking about building pipelines and cancelling the carbon and capital gains taxes. Nobody believes in anything. It's a brave new world.
But the Liberals needed the NDP under Trudeau. They put up with all this shit and kept quiet, and they need that NDP base support now during the election. You want to know how much Canadian Jews are worth to the Liberal Party? You remember Marco Mendicino and how comparatively outspoken he was about antisemitism in the Trudeau government? He's now Carneys' Chief of Staff. As of this writing, not a word about Al-Quds day. Not a word about a Toronto man arrested for plotting to bomb every synagogue in Toronto. Not a word about a Jewish-owned coffee shop that was vandalized for the 3rd time. All things that happened in the space of a week. The Liberals are trying to win an election, you see. Marco is muzzled. Tweeting too much about antisemitism is not good for votes. They have to stay perfectly balanced between Islamophobia and antisemitism.
Canadian Jews, the non-tokens, don't matter to the NDP. And "don't matter" is honestly too charitable.
For the Liberals, we're dispensable. A political headache.
What do Liberal politicians and partisans scream on social media all day? Beware Maple MAGA. Nothing matters but the Trump threat. I'm sorry, you're going to protect Canada? You're going to protect my safety? Why is Hassan Diab still in this country? Why did it take years to designate the IRGC as terrorists? Why is Charlotte Kates still in this country and travelling to Nasrallah's funeral after Samidoun was designated? Laith Marouf? Dattani? Resuming UNRWA funding after firm ties to Hamas were established? What did Joly say about her riding to Mulcair? Never mind foreign interference, organized crime and our ridiculous criminal justice system.
Two teenagers were arrested for plotting to bomb a rally for the Jewish people in Ottawa in December 2023. I was there. My aunt and pregnant cousin were there. Dozens of kids were there.
Maple MAGA. Nothing matters but the Trump threat. Tell it to your Canadian Jewish friends and neighbours. Go on. Nobody believes in anything anymore. LOLZ.
I need a cigarette.
