List of terrorism arrests and charges in Canada
This is a chronological list of every terrorism-related
arrest or charge in Canada since October 2023, linked firmly or suspected to
“Daesh-inspired” or Islamist/Jihadist radicalization, of which I’m aware. H/T
to Jesse Brown whose 2024 list
(broader in scope) helped fill this in. These are only terror-related charges,
and don’t include, for example, arson
attacks on Synagogues.
Feb

on Parliament Hill

some progressives won’t see anything wrong with this one).
Aug
2024: RCMP charge youth from GTA for alleged ties to terrorist group
- Terrorist group not named. I don’t understand why this is the case sometimes.
Sep

Oct
2024: Police arrest five people, including three minors, who were found
with incendiary material parked near a Synagogue in Montreal.
- Haven’t seen follow up on this one. Assuming it’s Islamist related given minors involved. Also, Montreal.

agents of Iran to assassinate him was foiled.

pro-ISIS, anti-LGBTQ content to social media has been placed on a terrorism
peace bond, bringing to an end the court cases stemming from a major RCMP
national security investigation. He was the third teen and fourth person
to be arrested in 2023 as part of the RCMP's Integrated National Security
Enforcement Team (INSET) investigation.
*Apr
2025: Ontario man arrested for allegedly trying to leave Canada to join a
terrorist group, the RCMP says.
- The RCMP wouldn’t say which group he planned to join so this may not belong but pretty good bet it’s Jihadist related.
May
2025: The RCMP says a 36-year-old man from Toronto has pleaded guilty to
two charges in what the force calls the largest terrorism financing scheme in
Canada’s history. Mounties say Khalilullah Yousuf used cryptocurrency and money

April 2023. He was convicted of attempted murder and assault with a weapon for
the benefit of, at the direction of, and in association with the Islamic State.
Nov
2025: A youth charged related to alleged ISIS propaganda videos following
an ongoing investigation into “terrorism related offences”, the RCMP says.
(LMAO, CTV put those quotes around terrorism related offences…good old CTV
“Flames target place of worship”)
Dec
2025: A Calgary man who travelled to Syria with his cousin more than 12
years ago found guilty of terrorism offences after a judge ruled that the
evidence shows he was fighting for ISIS.
Two crazy things about this, though there are more:
- I haven't seen one politician outside of Quebec be able to reference this threat by name. Zero articles in the CBC about Islamist radicalization. Zero acknowledgements by Muslim associations.
- You know how lots of people like to blame Israel for antisemitism who simultaneously ignore all of this for fear of being racist, or causing Islamophobia etc.? Do you think any of them ever think, for just one second, about how this might affect their views on Israel/Palestine?
